Laura Beaumont

By day Laura Beaumont is an Emmy Award winning animation writer who has been writing children’s animation for over 25 years. She has written for the Jim Henson Company, Hit Entertainment and Disney and has spent the last ten years head-writing Fireman Sam. She has also written and illustrated several children’s books.

By night she creates subversive mixed media art using plastic figurines and antiquarian books.

She has created a dark and surreal train set, several installations and has a number of solo exhibitions under her belt.

The BAAs was probably the only time these two professions collided.

What is your favourite British animation of all time?

My Favourite British Animation of all time is: ‘The Pirates! In an Adventure with Scientists’ directed by Peter Lord at Aardman.
