Irish-born, Bristol-based Yasmeen Ismail is an award-winning author, illustrator and animator. Yasmeen studied at art school in her hometown, Dublin. After graduating, she moved to London where she worked as an animation director and set up a production company with her friend, Sandra Salter. Years later Yasmeen found herself writing and illustrating picture books. As a result of her animation background, her illustrations are bright, fluid, full of energy and movement. She has a love of watercolours, inks and paints and is moving into all sorts of other mediums.

What is your favourite British animation of all time?

It will always be The Snowman.

What’s the best thing about working in the industry?

The best thing about working in the industry is the camaraderie of a good team when the deadline approaches and the computers have stopped working.
